Teaching & Workshops

Rosie is an experienced teacher who is passionate about sharing her skills as an artist. Her classes build confidence and introduce new ways of seeing to truly explore your creative potential.

The Colour Factory has been the home of Rosie’s art courses since 2016 and she has adapted to reach out to her students during lockdown by teaching via Zoom.

Her classes offer a rich learning experience with demonstrations, one to one support, historical context and processes used by some of history’s greatest painters. All this learning is supported and celebrated in a vibrant art community where Rosie curates and holds the student Summer exhibition.

With a colourful context of art history, these courses teach through observational studies, memory painting and abstraction. Classes frequently tie in with visits to current major exhibitions. Materials and hot refreshments are included, and all abilities are welcome. There is an evening class or two morning sessions to book onto.

Testimonials

“I love Rosie’s abstract class! We learn about different artists, their history and techniques and then go on to experiment for ourselves. I also love the atmosphere that Rosie creates and the camaraderie from the group where we all support each other. It’s fascinating how everyone’s work is different.”
Rosie lessons are always well structured and carefully planned so we all progress in our creativity. I have learnt so much in the year I have attended and look forward to every week.”

“I’m so happy to have found Rosie’s class, it’s exactly what I had been looking for. A perfect balance between learning and experimenting, in the style of the artist of the week, with the opportunity to develop and incorporate our own take on abstraction.”
Sophie

“Rosie is, hands-down, the kindest, warmest, most encouraging teacher you could wish for. My confidence has bloomed under her good humour and care. She creates a wonderful atmosphere in which to attempt, learn and experiment again, unfailingly helpful, practical and positive. Her own body of work is hugely accomplished, gorgeous and always a source of inspiration, as are her methods and the way she weaves art history with real technique into every lesson for us to try. It’s no wonder she has a regular cohort of students who stay year after year. Her classes are a real high point in my week – join one if you can!”

Rebecca

“Rosie is an outstanding art teacher. She is patient, thoughtful and able to offer constructive feedback to help me on my art journey. I hadn’t painted for 40 years when I started her class, and I have flourished. She doggedly carried on teaching during the first Lockdown. Her classes were a godsend.”
